As a result of the recall of peanuts processed at Peanut Corporation of America in the Blakely, Georgia facility since January 1, 2007 due to the possibility of contamination with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
