Walgreens is recalling four types of Walgreens brand chocolate candy containing peanuts sold in stores from Jan. 1, 2007 to Jan. 29, 2009. The candy manufacturer notified Walgreens today that the candy contains peanuts from Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). PCA is the focus of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration investigation into potential salmonella contamination of peanut butter and paste. Though Walgreens is not aware of any reported cases of illness related to these products, it has issued this voluntary recall as a precautionary measure.
