Evista Now Approved to Reduce Breast Cancer Risk in Postmenopausal Women
FDA has approved Evista (raloxifene hydrochloride) for reducing the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or at a high risk of invasive breast cancer. Evista was approved in 1997 for osteoporosis prevention in postmenopausal women and in 1999 for treating postmenopausal women who have osteoporosis.

Study of 500,000 Aims to Determine If ADHD Drugs Pose Possible Heart Risks
FDA and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality are collaborating on the most comprehensive study to date of prescription medicines used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and their potential for increased risk of heart attack, stroke, or other cardiovascular problems. The study will examine the clinical data of about 500,000 children and adults who have taken ADHD drugs.

FDA Licenses 15 New Blood Typing Tests to Help Ensure Safe Transfusions
FDA has licensed 15 new blood typing tests that have been previously unavailable in the United States. The tests are used to determine the blood type of blood donors, a critical step in ensuring safe blood transfusions.
