% sfdisk -T | grep ^ee
ee  EFI GPT

So partition type "ee" stands for "EFI GPT".

afaics creating partitions is done by fdisk & co as usual, EFI just sits
between the bootloader and the hardware/bios. the fs created on top of the
(special) partition shouldn't care about it.
