/home several times not mounted on startup

This isn't an explanation, but you might have better luck if your
/etc/fstab is set to mount partitions instead of labels. Try setting it
to mount the device name (example: /dev/sda1) instead of the label
(f-home). I've had some wierdness occur when different partitions on
various devices had the same label.
