I'm also getting this same error when trying to run Diablo III: Reaper of Souls via Wine. My setup is identical to ubu's with the only differences being that I'm using Netrunner (KDE) and that my graphics card is a HD 7750. When running the game, it consistently crashes after retrieving the character list with the "LLVM runs out of registers" error.
