I just hit this bug after i updated mesa yesterday. I have a Radeon HD 8570D (from the A8-6500 APU, uses the r600 driver. I have this skipping and looping issue with xbmc IF i have the "prefer vdpau mixer" option activated. If i deactivate it, playback is fine, although it seems a bit blockier. Launching xbmc ith R600_DEBUG=noinvalrange doesnt change anything. mpv on the other hand works just fine with vdpau playback and has better image quality than xbmc with the mixer option deactivated. dmesg doesnt show anything out of the ordinary. I updated the kernel from git today and even merged Dave's drm-next into it. No change. Maybe this is related to the vdpau/gl interop method which is used by xbmc to play vdpau content over opengl (since "pure" vdpau playback such as mpv's doesnt seem to be ffected)?
