$ ls -la /etc/modprobe.d/radeon.conf ; cat /etc/modprobe.d/radeon.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 24 Jul 3 2011 /etc/modprobe.d/radeon.conf
options radeon hw_i2c=1
So that answers that. I'd forgotten I even had that set.
Still does my patch fix it ?
