I would pay 20€ > for getting them a card... I've got quite a few r6xx cards, however, all of the cards I have access to work fine with dpm. Unfortunately, r6xx cards are five generations old, so it's much harder to find people that remember or documents describing the details and quirks of dpm on these asics so even if I managed to get a problematic card, I'm not sure how much luck I'd have.
