Forgot to mention in my earlier reply today that with the proposed solution no changes are needed in the Gallium drivers, only in the pipeloader component in Mesa, and in the Gallium frontends. But those changes are needed anyway to support the upcoming compute-only NPUs, such as Rockchip's.
