Hm, sounds like we fail to properly read the EDID. Can you please boot
both the working and broken kernel with drm.debug=0xe and attach the
complete dmesg?

To keep everything together please file a bug on bugs.freedesktop.org
against DRI -> DRM(Intel) and attach the files there together with
your quick description of the regression above.
