They are initialized before the first goto:

[...]
	fbi = NULL;
	var = NULL;
	fbops = NULL;

	fbi = kzalloc(sizeof(*fbi), GFP_KERNEL);
	if (fbi == NULL) {
		r = -ENOMEM;
		goto err;
	}
