On an HP dm4t-1200 laptop 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:146a] Running Linux version 3.5.0-rc7+ Boots up with backlight turned off, invert_brightness helps However this remains "inverted" indeed, turning the brightness down using the fn key brings the brightness up, even though the on-screen indicator in GNOME shows it going down, and vice versa.
