FYI : No success (applying patch
:https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/259364/) ( seems isn't bug 108608 --
something else )

Notes My case is :  (HW config: CPU:FX-9590 ; MB:M5A99Fx pro r2.0 ;  GPU:R9 290
4G )
    kernel v linux-4.19.6: 
     - Boot normal till amdgpu module load
     - Then "black screen" 
     - after ~5..10 sec fallbacked to VESA mode.
