Sorry it's not actually really "tcl-less" by this generation. That was the term
used by ATI for "transform, clippling, lighting". But of course for r300
generation it's really just vertex shader hw. Which neither the rs480 nor rs690
have (but all discrete r300 based chips do), it's all done in software. So,
it's not quite the same chipset than what the OP got but they behave pretty
much the same (I think rs690 would be somewhat faster though than rs480, but
not sure anymore...).
Glad Marek has a patch to get it working again!
