Could it be related to dpm? In my case I was trying many combinations of mesa versions, libdrm and kernels, but until many tests I have just changed dpm to high performance and no freeze happended anymore. Then I disabled dpm and no freeze since weeks. My report: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101976
