I've never tried using FreeSync on Linux, and I only very rarely do so on Windows. With standard drivers on Win10, the range still is 35-90hz. The range can be moved and extended (up to 60-144) using CRU or modded drivers on Windows though. I don't know if Asus actually wants/wanted to extend the range and someone who knows FreeSync better might get this to work. You could ask in the ROG forums, there are other people using the new firmware.
