Thank you for your explanation about pin/unpin. I could understand pin/unpin feature through you. If so, I think the feature(that physical memory mapping is done at page fault handler of specific gem module) doesn't need for embedded systems without their own video memory and so they would need only the mapping way that user space would be mapped to physical memory directly not at the page fault handler once user requests specific mmap ioctl(not mmap system call). you can refer to i915_gem_mmap_ioctl() of i915/i915_gem.c for that.
