I reproduced this on current Debian Sid and Kabini with current distro packages, same blender as Michel's. LIBGL_DRI3_DISABLE=1 fixes it, but... But it is tricky one, it has something to do with vsync it seems, as also is not reproducable with vblank_mode=3 , but with vblank_mode=0 it is there :)
