As to the GPU lockup, You might try disabling EXA accel routines to see if you can narrow down the problem. E.g., Option "EXANoComposite" Option "EXANoDownloadFromScreen" Option "EXANoUploadToScreen" in the device section of your xorg config. > The connectors on the card are quite different from the generic connector table > the driver seems to use.
