Currently, device-mapper ioctls ignore unknown flags. This makes adding new flags to a given ioctl risky, as it could potentially break old userspace. To solve this problem, allow userspace to pass 5 as the major version to any ioctl. This causes the kernel to reject any flags that are not supported by the ioctl, as well as nonzero padding and names and UUIDs that are not NUL-terminated. New flags will only be recognized if major version 5 is used. Kernels without this patch return -EINVAL if the major version is 5, so this is backwards compatible.
