This is not upstream code, it is from cryptroot script that is added
in Debian/Ubuntu distributions only.
Seems there is a lot of legacy magic in that script though...
(See /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/cryptroot which config files
are parsed to get the resume device.)

It is better to report it to distro specific bug trackers anyway.
