Currently, when using the lib+API passphrase is acquired by the lib internally from the terminal.

The next major realease will remove this 'limitation' and it will be up to the programm using the API to acquire the passphrase.

Check the release notes from the current realease to see for yourself.

Says in several places

"Internal terminal password query is DEPRECATED and will be removed in
next version."

I don't know what "internal terminal password query" means. Does it
mean ask the user for the password from the API or does it mean
something else? I don't want to do this deprecated thing by accident.
(I'm just learning how to use the API and want to change or add a
passphrase).
