One of the declarations at the beginning of the usbluks.rr script states

KEYDIR = /etc/keys but I do not have that file.
Create with mkdir and put your keyfile in it.

Is my 'keyfile' a copy of the file on the usb stick? If not, what?

Many thanks for your help and patience.

I think I misunderstood (misread your email). This won't work for you; you haven't booted yet. I was thinking you wanted to unlock a luks partiton on the USB stick when you plug it in.

I'm not sure how you do what you are asking. You'll need to look at the cryptsetup web page to see if there's a solution. Essentially you have to modify the start script in the initrd/initramfs file but I've not done this so I can't help really.

Sorry.
