mmmmmm turned out to be really simple. Carlo, IceCutter.... thanks for input guys. It's much appreciated. All I had to do was. 1. fdisk /dev/sdl and create new partition. Used entire disk originally so it was easy. 2. Mount using the cryptsetup and then mount the mapped drive. So I'm in the clear. Hopefully it does not happen again. Was keen to start on my mdadm raid5 drives but will hold off on that now untill I know why this happened?
