I can report that after the 2nd reboot under 2.6.22-rc7, the system decided the
root fs was corrupt and did a full fsck :-(

However, it found nothing wrong afterwards. I have rebooted around 8 times under
2.6.22-rc7 and it has fsck'ed twice - with no evidence of there being a need to
do it.
