This hasn't been reported before. Can you post an strace of the
hanging cryptsetup run? gdb with debug symbols would also be great.

I suspect it's the device mapper refusing to remove the mapping and
hanging. I can remember that we do any substential other things in
luksClose - actually ATM it's just an alias for "close".
