How to use crpytosetup-luks on old cryptsetup partitions?

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello!

Few days ago, I encrypted my home partition with cryptsetup (in Gentoo
portage sys-fs/cryptsetup-0.1-r3) - following the guide on
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-274651.html

After few days I realised, that it is really an old howto and lot of
packages depend on sys-fs/cryptsetup-luks. These two are blocking each
other (of course). Maybe just my googling ability went slower because of
summer, but I was unable to find any examle, how to "convert" partition
from old cryptsetup to newer cryptsetup-luks.

Is the only way using dd (somethink like dd if=/dev/mapper/_dev_sda5 of=
/root/sda5 then recreating partition and key with cryptsetup-luks and dd
backup back after that)? Or is there some easier way, just to modify
/etc/security/pam_mount.conf and so?

Thanx for every help! (if this is solved somewhere, URL will be very
helpful :) )
