If I remember correctly, previously flash detection and read/write test used
to fail with 4-bit tx-mode. I cannot reproduce this issue with latest linux-next
and renesas-devel.

There are no SoC driver changes, but there are changes in subsystem which may fixed this issue.
It could be timing related. I haven't bisected which patch is fixing the issue.

Another change is related to RootFS, I migrated to using VLP 3.0.5[1] as rootFS compared to VLP 3.0.2.
I don't think this will fix the issue.
