So the issue proved reasonably easy to track down. We remove the buffer ioctl handler twice. First in iio_device_unregister() in a loop over the list, and again later in iio_buffer_sysfs_and_mask() (called from the same function). (note it would happen later in the equivalent event related version but we have already died on the first instance which is the one Tomas hit). @Alex. Which one should we keep?
