Why is this an array with one element?

Also, of compatible matches are _usually_ constant, so I think you
should create a structure (e.g. struct pmif_data) with only the
read-only fields.

This looks wrong. spmi_controller_alloc is already allocating the
private data for you.

So I think you're going to need to change according to my comment
