With the two changes to tests/run_tests.sh I posted, and reverting the
introduction of gnu_printf, I have a basic Cirrus-CI 'make check'
running for both Linux ("gcc:latest" Debian docker container) and
FreeBSD 12,1: https://cirrus-ci.com/build/5846242315206656
