Ceph Leadership Team Meeting Minutes (2022-03-23)

Hi Cephers,

This is what we discussed today at the CLT meeting today:
  • Telemetry Crash sync with redmine [Yaarit]:
  • ~1,700 clusters reporting
  • About 400 new redmine issues were created to sync crashes received via telemetry
  • Ongoing work to deduplicate those
  • What's expected from devels & users:
    • If the issue is already fixed in another tracker - please add it as 'relates to' to the crash issue
    • if it's not a Ceph bug - close with a Won't Fix status (don't use Rejected or Closed)
    • if it's a duplicate of another issue created by the bot - please mark it as a duplicate, and add the duplicated issue as a relation
    • see if there are any patterns in the sanitized backtrace that could be applied in order to dedup these issues
    • see if it makes sense to take only the 5 top frames in order to decide it's the same crash
  • Jenkins Failures [Venky, Zak, Ilya]:
    • ReadTheDocs check (related to a change from "master" to "main", but already fixed). Just rebase your PRs if needed.
      • Question about Personal Access Tokens being disallowed (Zak) -- the docs should contain a non-PAT authentication method. To be discussed at Docs meeting.
    • Make check & API check: if there are false positives, please retrigger by adding a comment (the list of comments is available in the PR description as "Show available Jenkins commands"). E.g.: "jenkins test make check" or "jenkins test api".

  • Quincy [Josh]:
  • freeze Friday (25), final release 30th/31st?
  • series of blog posts: new features, scale testing (Pawsey), etc.
  • RGW: hoping to merge Arrow submodule for quincy (casey)
  • Cephalocon dev summit [Josh]:
  • format - 2 rooms
  • breakout sessions
  • Challenge: how to ensure virtual attendees can participate too? Please contribute with suggestions!
  • Virtual Ceph Developer Summit (CDS) for Reef [Josh, Ilya]
  • add sessions and topics to the calendar and etherpad
  • announce on dev list
  • Schedule (9 sessions in Quincy): 1 week (intensive) vs. 2 weeks vs. 1-2 weekly meetings (might take a month)
  • Decision to go with a 2 weeks schedule (tradeoff).
  • Backports (so many) [David]:
    •  Build failures (sounds like readthedocs failure earlier is related). docs-build failures can be disregarded.
    • all marked needs-qa
  • CVE [Dan]
  • Should be able to release this week.  Waiting on dgalloway for procedure doc.
  • More stable, though still showing errors after a while.

Kind Regards,
