Hi,
here are the minutes from todays CLT call
Feature branches
- The idea is to use feature branches for features that are
going to take a longer time to develop.
- Work is also going on to create a stable sha for helping bisecting issues in the future
- ilya: Problem: We historic branches in the ceph-client repo. We might need to restrict the naming
- Ernesto: an idea would be to prefix features with `feature-` prefix
- Sebastian: feature branches need to properly rebased on top of master
News on telemetry
- 2000 open fingerprints
- There is a private dashboard: telemetry.from.sepia.ceph.com:4000
- Features:
- filtering by daemon, timestamp etc.
- we're creating a finger print
- information about each crash report
- A bot is automatically creating tickets in redmine
- how many crashes do we want to wait till we open a tracker?
- Neha: sooner rather than later
- https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/51753
- Ernesto: "simple" mode is missing in the dashboard (also wizards)
- There is a possible colaboration with Aquarium. Trying to converged our efforts
- Aquarium build on FastAPI. Aquarium folks super happy about that framework
- not a lot of decisions have been made yet
Alternative to system packages (PoC)
- using system packages for Python libraries created a lot of work and restricts the number of libraries that we can use
- Mainly the dashboard is feeling the pain as there are a lot
of new web development frameworks hat don't have distribution
packages.
- Maybe use pip packages?
- problem: non-containerized deployments
- Continue to encourage users to use containers? But this is not going to solve anything: We'll continue to support non-containerized.
- Maybe use virtual envs for mgr for non-containerized? How would this look like?
Thanks,
Sebastian
