Every client but Outlook 2007 works fine. Outlook 2007 fails. I learned that this is caused because it tries to login with NTLM (which I don't support) and fails, and then it doesn't try LOGIN nor PLAIN.

In my experience Outlook will only attempt to perform an NTLM authentication if the "*Log on using Secure Password Authentication" (SPA) option is checked.


Thanks for your answer, Dan. The weird part is that the SPA checkbox remained unchecked in all the tests. This 0x800CCC80 Outlook error seems to be epidemic, BTW.
