Typically this specifies the name of a configuration file or rendezvous point. This feature is available in Postfix 2.3 and later. In earlier releases it was called smtpd_sasl_application. It must be like this: smtpd_sasl_path = smtpd Don't get mislead by the word "path". It does not mean you should write the complete path to the socket or something like this. Just use 'smtpd'.
