Or will it recover a Right after sending this email it occurred to me that I could run strings on the undeleted file and see if anything interesting showed up. Sure enough right at the very beginning of the file is what looks like a bash history file. If it weren't for bad luck I would have no luck at all! So it looks like it comes down to my ancient backup from DVD. Strings on that file shows nothing but apparent randomness, not that I would expect anything else because I am sure the backup is good. So I am really scratching my head over why it won't mount. - -- Tracy R Reed http://ultraviolet.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.1 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Fedora - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFC5sMN9PIYKZYVAq0RAtv2AJ0YcL/Vq5jgPfV2airOSkGJEtK1NgCfadQS HH8BkqrEkB6vSF2oLq6WQ9E= =THSW -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- - Linux-crypto: cryptography in and on the Linux system Archive: http://mail.nl.linux.org/linux-crypto/
