dvdrecord: Disk image size too large (max. 1 GB in demo mode)
(I guess there would have been more appropriate lists/newsgroups for this question...) You had dvd+rw-tools installed, hadn't you? Its man page says:

To use growisofs to write a pre-mastered ISO-image to a
DVD:growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/dvd=image.iso ---
It says "ISO-image" but I'd wonder if it would get upset about any other data.
