  Last time I looked at it, (it was at least 6 years ago) ... it was too
highlevel - no asynchonous support. More focused on how to present public
keys. No support for AES, etc.

  I'm sure that you can build something on top of what we create.  

  As for being a "standard" - no, it is a creation of RSA Data Systems.
