problems aking util-linux-2.11d

while building util-linux-211d on a smp x86, with
kernel 2.4.12 and cryptoapi-2.4.7.0 i get the
following error message: 
instructions taken from the linux encryption howto.
/usr/include/linux and /usr/include/asm are symlinks
to kernel tree.
