The following patch set removes every possible conditional around OS check and use feature checks as replacement. Drop also duplicated and unnecessary code around. One problem introduced by 02d56da26a3b22cab380976450392bcbd4b43729 (pre this patchset) remains unsolved on openindiana where ld apparently does not understand -Wl,--version-script (or gcc doesn't do the right thing).
