Yes, in RHEL6, cluster daemons use cpg directly, not groupd.
More to the point, the cluster daemons detect and deal with the
merging of cluster partitions themselves.  If you have a cluster
merge, you'll see log messages saying things like:
"daemon node N kill due to stateful merge"
"telling cman to remove nodeid N from cluster"
