Please don't reply offlist...

stable2 got a little bit behind with respect to mainline kernel support
lately as the developers spend there time on finalizing stable3
series...

Stable2 should work with 2.6.29 if you use a git checkout...

Do you really need the deprecated gnbd services?

You can simply disable gnbd on configure...
