Pay attention to the performance optimizations (noatime, etc.) including statfs_fast if you are on GFS1. We export LUNs from our SAN to each domU using tap:sync driver. Performance seems to be limited by our SAN. Each domU in our setup has two vif's: one for openais, another for everything else, though I can't say if that helps or hurts performance.
