Do you have a /dev/sdf? And if so does it have a gfs or gfs2 filesystem, or is the filesystem on /dev/sdf1 (a partition)? If in doubt, use gfs_tool &/or gfs2_tool to examine the sb (superblock) of the device you're trying to mount.
