If some of you want to try it out and let me know I'd appreciate it.

I grabbed CVS -STABLE, applied your patch, and tested. :)

As a side note, if it would be possible to get the code to compile both on 2.6.20 and 2.6.18, it'd be great - 2.6.18's the most recent kernel that I have Xen running with.

I'm on Debian with a 2.6.20-rc6-amd64 (64-bit) kernel. I got everything to build, joined the cluster, and tried to mount a GFS filesystem.. it crapped out. Looking at the logs, looks like a lock_dlm issue:

lock_dlm: disagrees about version of symbol dlm_new_lockspace
lock_dlm: Unknown symbol dlm_new_lockspace
lock_dlm: disagrees about version of symbol dlm_lock
lock_dlm: Unknown symbol dlm_lock

Note that it did actually throw a kernel dump:

GFS: Trying to join cluster "lock_dlm", "nate_test:gfs01"
lock_dlm: disagrees about version of symbol dlm_new_lockspace
lock_dlm: Unknown symbol dlm_new_lockspace
