Hello,
I have a two node cluster system sharing a SAN storage. The two nodes are planing for failover clustering. Both cluster will be online. If one cluster goes down, the second cluster will manage the resource. Your documentation doesn't provide a good information. In the RHEL V4 cluster suit documentation, you put a requirment of fence device. I don't have a plan to use any hardware fence device. Does it cause any data integration problem allowing both cluster running at the same time? My expctation is the cluster will manage the resouce and shouldn't have an issue two node reading the same storage. I don't have a plan to use GFS. The system will be used for oracle Database.
This is what i see in your documentation on RHEL V4 cluster suit as a minum hardware requirment
2.1.1. Minimum Hardware Requirements
A
minimum hardware conguration includes only the hardware components that are required forcluster operation, as follows:
.
At least two servers to run cluster services.
Ethernet connection for sending heartbeat pings and for client network access.
Network Switch to connect cluster nodes and resources.
A fence deviceThe hardware components described in Table 2-1 can be used to set up a minimum cluster conguration.
This conguration does not guarantee data integrity under all failure conditions, because it does
not include power switches. Note that this is a sample conguration; it is possible to set up a minimum
conguration using other hardware.
Warning
The minimum cluster conguration is not a supported solution and
should not be used in a productionenvironment, as it does not guarantee data integrity under all failure conditions.
