Hello, I'm curious if you are referring to the smb service:
https://docs.ceph.com/en/squid/cephadm/services/smb/ ?

If so, I'd like to mention that the service is mainly designed to support the 
smb mgr module - but that module won't be available until tentacle. The 
service itself can be used directly but it's a bit low-level and expects you 
to provide configuration urls (rados or http(s)) that point to the configuration 
files for the samba-containers [1] / sambacc projects [2].  It's all doable but 
its not nearly as user friendly as the mgr module is designed to be.

If you do give it a try I'd like to hear how well  it goes for you.
