For my part, I see humans thinking in base-10 units. I'm glad we've at
least got terms for the base-2 ones, so it can be clear in technical
settings. At best however I see people having to clarify and getting
frustrated with there being two options, one of which being less
intuitive, particularly given that only in IT did we ever pretend a
kilo-something was not a thousand.

Therefore I'm on a collaborative campaign to standardise all of my org's
thinking, talking and reporting to base-10. I'm not sure it will ever
complete.
