Hi Marc,

I saw you report this in at least one other thread on this list but you
never provided any details.  With only RBD involved, it's definitely not
related to the CephFS issue raised by Marc R here.

I suspect that you are hitting https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/39010,
suffering from the fact that for historical reasons the block layer has
to be somewhat lax with read-only devices and that the related RBD
fixup hasn't made it into RHEL 7.
